My husband and I and our two girls took a mini-vacation to Dublin. Ohio to watch the men's Memorial Classic; sponsored by Morgan Stanley and hosted by golf legend Jack Nicklaus.
If you enjoy golf as much as my husband and oldest daughter do then you would have been excited to see in action the likes of Fred Couples and Phil Mickelson. However, my youngest and I have our eyes on IAN POULTER above.
We were camped out at the tenth hole; when after finishing the round Ian threw a ball to my youngest. This made her day and my day as well. Not only is he a snazzy dresser but a good golfer as well; even though he didn't win. The winning title went to Ken Perry.
My oldest has her brush with greatness too. Ken Duke was paired with Ian Poulter, and his caddy came up to my oldest and asked her to throw his empty cup away. And after thanking her several times he threw her one of Ken Duke's balls. She was thrilled. Also, Stuart Appleby stopped and talked with my youngest- she was just beaming.
Also, many players stopped to give kids high fives ( including my daughters) which only added to the fun of the day. Some players were just too busy to stop and smile, or shake hands. Too bad for them that they are so wrapped up in themselves to spread joy to others. Oh well...
I am not particularly that fond of golf( unless my oldest is playing in her high school matches and tournaments), but I must admit I had a fabulous time watching the tournament. Spending the day with my family in the beautiful sunshine was a real treat. And discovering Ian Poulter and his quirky clothing was fun too.
