Mary Cassatt is my favorite impressionist ... for all the reasons you've already posted. Thanks for putting together this post! Heidi

This is a wonderful idea, Kathy. I confess to having little knowledge of art though it has always been something I admired from a distance.
Now Fridays will be art appreciation days.
Mary Cassat sounds like she was a single minded woman who did not let the mind-set of others deter her from doing what she elected to do.
There is a gentleness about her work and I particulary like the warm vibrant colours in the Maternal Kiss.
They capture the innocence of childhood well and the first and last the intimacy of the relationship between mother and child.

Kathy, well you picked one of my favorite artist to spotlight! I can't say which is my favorite as the mother and child ones are all special in their own unique way.

I really love the children on the beach.

There is a surprise for you on our blog 'View from the Pews.' :)

I love Maternal kiss. But all the paintings are beautiful. Thank goodness God has Gifted these wonderful people.

Thanks for sharing these wonderful paintings. I love them all.

Peace & JOY to you:)

The Memorare

  • The Memorare
Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to your protection, implored your help or sought your intercession was left unaided. Inspired with this confidence, I fly unto you, O Virgin of virgins, My Mother. To you do I come, before you I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in your mercy hear and answer them. Amen.

Having trouble Conceiving?

Spiritual Adoption prayer of Archbishop Sheen

  • "Jesus, Mary, and Joseph, I love you very much. I beg you to spare the life of ( Baby's name) the unborn baby that I have spiritually adopted who is in danger of abortion."

Priests for Life end to Abortion prayer

  • Lord God, I thank you today for the gift of my life, And for the lives of all my brothers and sisters. I know there is nothing that destroys more life than abortion, Yet I rejoice that you have conquered death by the Resurrection of Your Son. I am ready to do my part in ending abortion. Today I commit myself Never to be silent, Never to be passive, Never to be forgetful of the unborn. I commit myself to be active in the pro-life movement, And never to stop defending life Until all my brothers and sisters are protected, And our nation once again becomes A nation with liberty and justice Not just for some, but for all, Through Christ our Lord. Amen! .

  • "America you are beautiful . . . and blessed . . . . The ultimate test of your greatness is the way you treat every human being, but especially the weakest and most defenseless. If you want equal justice for all and true freedom and lasting peace, then America, defend life -Pope John Paul II
